Since 2017, I have been conducting research and fine-tuning the process of creating Muck-rete from Muck. This research included performing various strength, durability, and environmental tests on Muck-rete.
– Compression Testing – Flexural Testing and Fiber Reinforcement – Durability Testing Under Various Environmental Conditions – Ensuring Chemicals Don’t Leach Out Of The Muck-rete
Results of these tests are included below. Contact me to request the full research paper.

Compression Testing
The graphs and table below show the average 7 and 28 compression test results for various Muck-rete mixes. Based on the application, a larger or small percentage of muck can be incorporated into the Muck-rete.
COMPRESSION TEST DATA: AVERAGES
Muck-rete 30%
Muck 30% + Polyester Fibers
Muck 30% + Agave Fibers
Muck 30% + Shoddy Fibers

Flexural Testing and Fiber Reinforcement
Flexural strength was tested after adding fiber from various recycled materials including agave fibers, shoddy fibers, and plastic water bottles. While flexural strength didn’t increase, the addition of fibers help to prevent catastrophic breaks.
Durability Testing Under Various Environmental Conditions
Muck-rete shows a minimal reduction in compressive strength over time under various environmental conditions which included underwater, underground, in full sun, in forest, and when subjected to repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Ensuring Chemicals Don't Leach Out Of The Muck-rete
The graphs below showed that no chemicals (Phosphates, Nitrates, Nitrates, Salts) leach out of Muck-rete over time.
